Typical OD Interventions

OD practitioners are increasing retained to deal with issues other than HRD and organisational or behavioural change. Although Leadership, Culture Change and Team Building are obvious issues for resolution we have found that the business cycle is often the real driver for improvement.

For instance, I was called in to a biotech business to examine quality issues. There was a strong believe that their customer focus on quality was hindering performance. On investigation it was highlighted that quality was an issue but not as big an issue as a failure to develop a strategic plan for all its products operating in a variety of geographies. The output of this initial work was the sting up of seamless Virtual Teams organised in 49 geographies worldwide each with a profit and loss account highlighting relative profitability.

What had initially started out as an investigation into quality revealed a much more severe problem with strategic planning.

Over the last few years I have used my OD expertise in a variety of countries ranging from Continental Europe to the USA working on such projects as:

  • Organisational Redesign
  • Re-engineering Processes around the customer
  • Post Acquisition Integration
  • Research and development into Product Portfolios
  • Virtual Team Working
  • Matrix Management
  • Creating Customer Focus Strategy
  • Building a Leadership Culture
  • Designing and Implementing a Learning Organisation
